Musical notes by prominent piano player and composer Morteza Mahjubi have been compiled and published in a bilingual book.
The piano pieces have been compiled by musician Bahar Barkhordar and published by Honar va Farhang (art and culture) Publication, ISNA reported.
Barkhordar is a piano instructor, composer and author of a three-volume musical book for children. In her recent book “Piano Scores of Compositions of Master Morteza Mahjubi” she has compiled the well known melodic pieces of the piano soloist, alongside English and Persian introduction to the works and techniques of the late master.
“The book features musical notes left by the maestro. I researched about his traditional style of composing for over five years,” Barkhordar said.
Mahjubi’s compositions included seven dastgahs, Persian traditional musical modes.
Morteza Mahjubi (1900-1965) was born in family of musicians in Tehran. He performed his first concert at the age of ten. In the following years, he went on to perform with renowned musicians of his time including Darvish Khan and Seyyed Hossein Taherzadeh.
