A counter-corruption parliamentary commission has submitted its findings on 31 of the largest bank loan defaulters to the judiciary, as the crackdown on corruption intensifies, the head of the commission said. “The principle of confronting economic criminals has been neglected in our Islamic society. Prompt and open action needs to be taken,” lawmaker Amir Khojasteh was also quoted as saying by Banker.ir. Last month, the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in response to a letter from Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, gave the green light for launching a massive probe to bring to justice those involved in economic malpractice. “We have identified the offenders, including 31 major loan defaulters and presented the evidence we found against them to the judiciary chief and other top authorities. We have announced our readiness to publicize more names even if it comes at a cost,” Khojasteh concluded.
