2nd Train Tour to Abr Forest Organized

A second train tour to Shahrud, Semnan Province, has been organized in which carriages will snake through the Abr Forest and other natural wonders of the city. "It takes the passengers on a 429-km tour from Tehran to Shahrud," a top official with the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Farshad Zadkhor, said on Tuesday, according to Rail News. "The itinerary boasts an abundance of tourist attractions, including the spectacular Abr Forest and the tomb of Bayazid Bastami. Traditional bazaars and other historical monuments add to its tourist appeal," Zadkhor said. "The tour gives the travelers a sense of convenience in a friendly, cozy and peaceful atmosphere," he added. For more information, applicants can call 0215149. The tour has been arranged in cooperation with the private sector and will run regularly if welcomed by tourists. Located 45 kilometers northeast of Shahrud, Abr (Persian for cloud) Forest covers 14,000 hectares and is part of the ancient Caspian Hyrcanian forests. Due to high humidity and special climatic conditions surrounding Alborz Mountains, clouds descend to the ground and cover the forest at certain times of the year, which is the logic behind its naming.
