A total of 11.22 million tons of iron ore concentrate was produced in Iran during the first three months of the current fiscal year (March 21-June 21), to register a 20% growth compared with last year’s corresponding period.
According to the latest report of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex accounted for 4.39 million tons of the total output, followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex with 2.2 million tons, Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 1.31 tons, Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 1.37 million tons, Goharzamin Iron Ore Company with 1.1 million tons, Opal Parsian Sangan with 659,392 tons and Jalalabad Iron Ore Company with 168,172 tons.
Production of granulated iron during the same period stood at 1.43 million tons, up 22% year-on-year.
Pellet output hit 9.46 million tons, up 22% YOY. Golgohar was the largest producer with 3.22 million tons, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company with 2.02 million tons, Khouzestan Steel Company with 1.74 million tons, MIDHCO with 1.27 million tons, Chadormalu with 1.04 million tons and Khorasan Steel Company with 151,572 tons.
Production of direct-reduced iron stood at 5.19 million tons, up 7% YOY. Mobarakeh had the lion’s share with 1.81 million tons, followed by KSC with 922,901 tons, Hormozgan Steel Company with 453,256 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 350,836 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 325,181 tons, Saba Steel Complex with 313,701 tons, MIDHCO with 228,594 tons, Ghadir Iron and Steel Company with 209,878 tons, Mianeh Steel Complex with 187,325 tons, Shadegan Steel Complex with 183,261 tons, Sefid Dasht Steel Company with 162,125 tons and Esfahan Steel Company with 45,646 tons.
From the above raw materials, a total of 4.84 million tons of slab, bloom, billet and ingot were produced during the period under review up 17% YOY. Mobarakeh Steel Company, with its subsidiaries Saba and Hormozgan Steel, was the biggest producer with 2.46 million tons.
KSC came next with 976,433 tons, followed by ESCO with 580,831 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 278,192 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 254,126 tons, Chadormalu Steel Company with 205,706 tons and Iran Alloy Steel Company with 90,678 tons.
All producers posted growth for the period, with the exception of IASCO whose output dropped 20%.
Moreover, 2.86 million tons of finished steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled coils, rebar, beams, pipes, wide and galvanized sheets were produced during the quarter under review, up 11% YOY.
MSC and its subsidiary Saba Steel had the largest share of production with 1.76 million tons, followed by ESCO with 568,284 tons, Oxin Steel Company with 180,999 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 162,066 tons, Azarbaijan Steel Company with 70,944 tons, IASCO with 49,170 tons, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Automotive Sheet Company with 46,046 tons, Ahvaz Rolling and Pipe Manufacturing Company with 16,336 tons and INSIG with 2,052 tons.
