Fruits Register Highest YOY Inflation

Fresh fruits registered the highest year-on-year inflation rate of 52.3% over the year ending July 6 while pulses had the lowest inflation rate of 1.2%. The Central Bank of Iran’s report on retail food prices over the week ending July 6 shows that out of 11 food groups, only chicken had the negative year-on-year inflation rate of 3.1%, as the rest of the groups registered positive inflation rates of above 1%. Dairy group inflation increased by 12.5%, eggs by 47.1%, rice by 5.7%, fresh vegetables by 15.1%, red meat by 23.9%, sugar and sugar cubes by 1.3%, tea by 19.3% and vegetable oil’s inflation rate increased by 8.7% compared with last year’s corresponding week.
