As per a memorandum of understanding signed with Keshavarzi Bank, the government allocated 15 trillion rials ($357 million) in credits for improving agricultural mechanization in the county in the current fiscal (March 2018-19), says deputy agriculture minister in agronomy affairs Abbas Keshavarz. According to the official, there is a positive correlation between agro mechanization coefficient and productivity, IRNA reported. Head of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agricultural Mechanization Expansion Center, Kambiz Abbasi, says agricultural mechanization coefficient currently stands at 1.62 horsepower per hectare, which is expected to increase to 2.1 hp/ha by the end of the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (2017-21).
