The name is Nature Bridge because it spans between two huge parks within the city and offers a vast overlook of trees and green spaces.
The 270-meter bridge straddles the Modarres Highway and connects two public parks -- Taleqani and Ab-o-Atash.
Leila Araqian and Ali-Reza Behzad from Diba Tensile Architecture in Tehran designed the bridge. Their imposing design won several awards, including the Popular Choice Prize for Highways & Bridges from the Architizer A+ Awards, a global architectural competition based in New York, as well as the 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
Construction of the bridge started in 2010 and ended in 2014. Araqian says she wanted the bridge to be a place for people to stop and ponder, not simply pass by.
