Pledge to Create Tourism Jobs in Ardebil

A senior tourism official in Ardebil Province vowed to create hundreds of jobs in the northwestern province using the budget allocated for supporting sustainable employment in rural and nomadic areas. “Part of the funding to promote sustainable employment in rural and nomadic areas will be used to create 600 job opportunities in the province’s tourism sector,” Nader Fallahi, head of the provincial office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, was quoted by CHTN as saying on Sunday. Ardebil’s share of the national budget aimed at creating sustainable jobs for villagers and nomads totals $29.5 million, of which $9.5 million have been earmarked for tourism projects, he said. But the official noted that the successful implementation of the employment plan hinges on cooperation from the banks. “Given the great job-creating potential the sector holds, banks are expected to lend us assistance in enforcing the projects,” Fallahi said. The government is struggling to revive the national economy, which is plagued by many problems, including high unemployment.
