Joe Wright’s 2017 history drama “Darkest Hour” is to have one screening at Qolhak Cineplex on May 12, the venue’s website wrote.
A thrilling and inspiring true story, it begins on the precipice of World War II as, within days of becoming prime minister of Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most turbulent trials: exploring the prospects of a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or remaining steadfast and fight for the values, liberty and freedom of a nation.
As the unstoppable Nazi troops walk over western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical king (George VI), and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, mobilize a nation, and try to change the course of world history.
The film stars Gary Oldman, Lily James, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn and Stephen Dillane among others.
For his role as Churchill, Gary Oldman won the Academy Award for Best Actor and Golden Globe Award of Best Actor.
The cineplex is located at Yakhchal Street on Shariati Avenue.
