An Italian translation of Suvashun (Savushun), a 1969 Persian novel by Simin Daneshvar (1921-2012), was presented on Tuesday at the Tehran International Book Fair, underway at Imam Khomeini Mosalla.
The book launch ceremony was held at the Hall of Nations in the presence of Italian Ambassador Mauro Conciatori.
Italian expert in Near Eastern Studies, Anna Vanzan, is the translator of the novel and Francesco Brioschi Editore, a publisher in Milan, has printed the book, ISNA reported.
Suvashun is the story of a family in Shiraz during the occupation of Iran in World War II. Folkloric elements and local dialect, placed within a plainly structured narrative, give the novel essence.
The book has sold over half million copies in Iran and has been translated in 16 languages including German, Chinese and Russian.
