Akira Kurosawa’s famous feudal epic ‘Kagemusha’ will have one screening on April 9 at the Iranian Artists Forum, Tiwall reported.
Meaning shadow warrior in Japanese, Kagemusha is a term used to denote a political decoy. The 1980 action drama film of the Japanese director presents the tale of a thief with an utter resemblance to a samurai warlord who is hired as the lord’s double. When the warlord dies the thief is forced to take up arms in his place.
The cast includes Tatsuya Nakadai, Tsutomu Yamazaki and Ken’ichi Hagiwara. When released the film received many international awards namely, Palme d’Or and two BAFTA awards for best direction and best costume design.
