Norouz Holidays Help Decline Tehran Noise Level

During the Iranian New Year holidays when urban traffic declines, the average noise level in Tehran fell by 2 decibels.

The average level measured by the noise assessment stations of Tehran's Air Quality Control Company in the last two weeks of the previous year (March 6-20) was 70.10 dB that dropped to 68.57 dB at the beginning of the holidays (March 21-April 2), AQCC's website reported.

Noise pollution has taken lower priority than other types of pollution, as its health impacts are not detectable immediately.

This is while getting accustomed to constant loud noise does not reduce its negative effects.

Stress, lack of concentration, high blood pressure and heart problems are among the effects of being exposed to noise pollution.

People can help reduce noise by refusing to hoot the horn unnecessarily, undertaking a vehicle checkup and using hybrid cars.
