More Iranian Airports Equipped for E-Visa

Electronic visa systems have been set up in 12 airports across Iran as part of efforts to facilitate inbound travel to the country.

Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company has established the system in Tabriz, Bandar Abbas, Imam Khomeini (Tehran), Isfahan, Shiraz, Mashhad, Kerman, Ahvaz, Bushehr, Orumiyeh and Kish airports in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and other relevant organizations, IRNA reported.

An e-Visa is one that is stored in a computer and is linked to the passport number rather than placing a label, sticker or stamp in the passport before travel.

The application is done over the internet. To facilitate travel during the Iranian New Year holiday (March 21-April 2), airports have also been instructed to prepare by creating an appropriate atmosphere.

According to Hossein Esfandiari, airports have started periodical check-up of their systems to prepare their technical equipment for the upcoming high season.

"Beautifying the terminal spaces, providing playground for children, installing Norouz emblems and performing traditional rituals are among other plans envisioned for the period," he said.
