Carmakers will attend the upcoming Baku Motor Show in the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 28-30. Companies which will attend include SAIPA, Iran Khodro, Bahman Group SAIPA Diesel, Pars Khodro as well as several automotive parts manufacturers, according to local automotive magazine Asre Khodro citing a state TV report on May 7. Several international firms are also expected to attend the event, including Ford, Suzuki, Lancia, Jeep and Range Rover. The expo is being held in conjunction with Iran’s International Trade Fairs (ITF) Group, which is active in the Azeri automotive market. Iran’s interest in the regional market continues to grow as several local manufacturers launched many new vehicles after a nuclear deal was signed with the six world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) which came into effect in January 2016. Iran Khodro Group also has a joint venture assembly line in the country with Azeurocar worth $15 million. The group says it wants to make 10,000 passenger vehicles per annum in Azerbaijan.
