Railroads of central Yazd Province account for 30% of Iran’s rail freight transport, the minister of roads and urban development said. Abbas Akhoundi added that the government is planning to increase this share by completing the construction of new routes, including the 500-km Bafq-Zarrin-Shahr railroad, which has made 60% progress, IRNA reported. Iran is planning to increase the share of rail in cargo transportation and incentivize local and international transportation companies to consider Iran’s rail routes for business.
