Digital Library Confab in February

The second Iranian National Conference on Digital Library (INCDL) will be held on February 22, 2017, at the Allameh Tabatabai University (ATU) in Tehran.

The conference is being organized under the auspices of ATU’s Department of Library and Information Science, in cooperation with Iranian Library and Information Science Association (ILISA), according to lisna.ir.

Titled ‘Digital Library: Intellectual Property,’ the introduction to the event says, “The advent of new technologies has increased the extent and speed of public access to sources of information; but intellectual property rights have also been violated simultaneously.”

Digital libraries in Iran have been operating for nearly a decade and their legal and executive areas of activity need to be reviewed.

“The conference will debate the issues and challenges in accessing information sources at digital libraries, support intellectual property rights and promote its culture,” it said.

The deadline for submission of articles is January 4. Further information is available on incdl.atu.ac.ir.

The first edition of the conference was held in January 2014 at Iran Telecommunication Research Center (ITRC) in Tehran, affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Its theme was ‘A Decade of Digital Libraries in Iran, with a View to the Future.’
