About 19% of Tehran’s population reside in dilapidated buildings that are spread across 5% or 3,268 hectares of land throughout the capital, according to CEO of Tehran Renovation Organization, Ebadollah Fathabadi. The government is considering incentives for the residents to renovate these buildings, mainly by offering them low interest loans, IRNA reported.
