A senior official said the enemies of Syrian nation, who supported terrorist groups fighting the Syrian Army through the past five years to change the system, have lost their hope of achieving success and are forced to turn to international talks for a political solution.
In a meeting with Syrian Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Damascus on Monday, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said "the exemplary resistance" of the Syrian leadership, government and nation is the source of disappointment for their enemies.
Fazli said Iran and Syria are on the same front against the conspiracies that have targeted "the whole region", IRNA reported.
"We can win our enemies through unity, no matter how powerful they are," he said.
The first two rounds of international talks on Syria were held in the Austrian capital Vienna on October 30 and November 14 and the third round was held in New York on December 18.
Laham said governments backing terrorism and violating the rights of Syrian people will not be left unpunished.
"Those who are fomenting unrests to provoke regional crises would not succeed in their attempts," he said.
In a separate meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi on Monday, Fazli said Iran gives high importance to promoting cooperation with the Arab country.
Stressing the continuity of Iran's support for Syria in the fight against terrorism, Fazli said the reason for Iranian assistance is not based on political objectives alone, but also on moral and religious principles.
The Iranian minister said the Syrian conflict and its devastating impacts on the Muslim world shows that greater unity among Muslims is needed and "they should devote more efforts to help foster solidarity among themselves".
After five years of steadfastness in Syria, Fazli said the US is unable to advance its interests in the region, while Europeans are now admitting the legitimacy of the Syrian government and nation that are fighting against extremism.
"The course of developments is to the benefit of the resistance front [against Israel] and the final victory [in Syria] is near," he said.
Halaqi said although the US, Israel, Turkey and some reactionary Arab states have not spared any effort to ravage Syria, they would be defeated and ashamed in the end.
Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday at the invitation of his Syrian counterpart Muhammad Ibrahim al-Shaar.
