Industrial machinery, raw materials and essential goods account for 85% of Iran’s imports, ISNA quoted director general of Import and Export Regulations Bureau at Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Hosseini, as saying. According to the latest figures released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, $20.85 billion worth of commodities were imported during the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), which indicates a 20.5% decline compared to the similar period of the preceding year.
