The production line of an air-launched cruise missile was inaugurated in Tehran on Tuesday in the presence of the defense minister.

The domestically designed and manufactured Nasr missile is equipped with a radar system and is capable of striking targets with pinpoint accuracy, Lieutenant General Hossein Dehqan said in a speech on the sidelines of the ceremony.

It can be mounted on a variety of fighters, Dehqan said, announcing his ministry's plans to install the rocket on drones, ISNA reported.

A surface-to-surface solid-fuel missile, the Fateh 313, with the ability to hit targets within a range of 500 km was also unveiled last week in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani.

The moves came in apparent response to domestic criticisms that the July 14 nuclear deal with major powers has forced a substantial slide in the Defense Ministry's activity.

A UN resolution adopted following the accord to endorse it has prohibited for eight years any Iranian activity related to ballistic missiles, a ban Iranian officials dismiss, arguing that it is contained in an unbinding annex to the resolution.
