A newly-established Iraqi transportation company has pledged to facilitate direct transfer of goods from Iran to Iraq, an official in Trade Promotion Organization announced, as reported by IRNA.  The company seeks to resolve the existing problems faced by Iranian truck drivers to obtain entry permission to Iraq. In mid-June, the pilot transfer of goods from Tehran and Karaj to Baghdad in Iraq started and successfully completed using 20 trucks owned by the designated Iraqi firm, according to a report by Iranian commercial attaché in Iraq Ebrahim Mohammad Rezazadeh.  Annual trade between Iran and Iraq currently stands at $12 billion a year with trade balance heavily in favor of Iran. The two neighbors hope to increase their annual trade to $25 billion in the coming years.
