Iran has recorded a significant rise in fuel production, with combined gasoline and diesel output increasing by 9 million liters per day over the past year, according to Mohammad Ali Dadvar, deputy head of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.
Production growth between September 2024 and September 2025 has outpaced the previous annual cycle. Based on refinery performance data, daily gasoline production rose by 4.3 million liters, while diesel output increased by 4.7 million liters compared with the period from September 2023 to September 2024.
Gasoline production averaged 98 million liters per day in the earlier cycle, rising to 102 million liters in the most recent 12-month period. Diesel output climbed from 111 million liters to 116 million liters per day over the same timeframe.
Dadvar emphasized that the production increase is notable because it occurred without the addition of any new refineries. The combined growth in gasoline and diesel output, he said, is equivalent to the performance of a 100,000-barrel-per-day refinery.
A six-month comparison also shows upward momentum. Gasoline production in the first half of last year averaged 98 million liters per day, edging up to 99 million liters in the first half of 2025. Diesel output rose from 112 million liters to 115 million liters per day in the same period.
Meanwhile, domestic gasoline distribution has surged. Consumption climbed from 124 million liters per day in the first half of 2024 to 133 million liters in the first half of 2025—an 8-million-litre increase.
The official also noted a rise in refinery feedstock. Average crude and condensate supply to refineries increased from 2.3 million barrels per day (Sep 2023–Sep 2024) to 2.4 million barrels per day in the past year, marking a gain of 100,000 barrels per day. In the first six months of this year, feedstock supply reached 2.4 million barrels per day, up from 2.3 million barrels in the same period last year.
