Kish Island Sets New Tourism Record

Kish Island, a major tourist destination in the Persian Gulf, has recorded an unprecedented surge in hotel stays this fall, marking its highest tourism figures in a decade.

According to Ali Hasanlou, deputy director of Tourism at the Kish Free Zone Organization, the island logged 283,372 hotel night-stays in October, the highest for this month in ten years. He noted that Kish typically experiences a decline in visitors during early autumn, but this year’s figures reflect a significant reversal.

Compared to last year’s 203,806 night-stays, the data show an increase of nearly 80,000, representing strong growth in domestic travel demand. Hotel occupancy rates also climbed to 75% overall and 79% among five-star hotels, up from around 60% a year earlier.

Hasanlou added that foreign tourist stays rose notably, reaching 5,845 hotel nights, the best October figure in a decade. He said new international flights expected in coming months are likely to further boost inbound tourism.

With coordinated planning and renewed investment, Kish Island is positioning itself as a regional tourism hub and reviving its role as one of Iran’s leading resort destinations in the Persian Gulf.
