Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has no intention of holding direct negotiations with the United States over its nuclear or missile programs, reiterating that Iran’s defense and enrichment capabilities are non-negotiable.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi emphasized that Iran would never dismantle its missile program or halt uranium enrichment, describing such expectations as unrealistic. “What cannot be achieved through war cannot be achieved through politics,” he said, stressing that while Tehran remains open to diplomatic engagement, any dialogue with Washington would only take place through indirect channels.
The minister noted that Iran is willing to address international concerns about its nuclear activities, asserting that the program remains entirely peaceful. “Reaching a fair agreement is possible,” he said, “but the United States continues to put forward unacceptable and impossible conditions.”
Referring to attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites in June by Israel and the US, Araghchi said, “Nuclear materials remained under the rubble of the attacked nuclear facilities and were not transferred elsewhere. The technology exists, despite the losses.”
Araghchi also warned that Tehran is prepared for any future aggression. “We expect any kind of hostile behavior from Israel,” he said, underscoring Iran’s readiness to respond to potential threats.
