Hormozgan Ports’ Throughput Up 8%

A total of 98.4 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at the ports of the southern Hormozgan Province in the last fiscal year (ended March 20), registering an 8% rise compared with the previous year’s throughput, according to Hossein Abbasinejad, director general of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormozgan.

Container loading and unloading stood at 2.13 million TEUs, indicating a 13% increase compared with the year before.

The official noted that 69,039 vessels docked at the province’s ports over the period, registering a 13% rise, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.

A total of 21.09 million passengers were transported via the ports during the same period, up 47%, he added.

Shahid Rajaee, the biggest commercial port in Iran, handled 76.5 million tons of goods during the year, registering a 4% rise.

The port’s container throughput stood at 1.95 million TEUs, registering a 10% increase.

Hormozgan Province’s ports include Abumusi, Aftab, Parsian, Tiab, Jask, Charak, Khamir, Sirri, Sirik, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Shiu, Qeshm, Kuh Mobarak, Kish, Lavan, Lengeh, Nokhaylo and Hormoz.
