Iran has acquired the knowhow to repair different types and sizes of fully welded ball valves, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company said.
“The country is now among a few in the world with this knowhow,” Majid Chegeni was also quoted as saying by the Oil Ministry’s news agency Shana.
A fully welded valve is designed with a welded and forged body to reduce weight and increase strength while eliminating several potential leak points. They are used to connect and shut off the flow in different pipeline systems.
As the body is made by welding forged parts, there are fewer potential leak paths compared to side-entry and top-entry ball valves.
Regarding the proper gas supply during the past winter, Chegeni said setting records in gas transmission along with fuel management, despite the challenges and extensive restrictions, indicates the efforts of all the personnel in this field.
"With planning, management, awareness and round-the-clock efforts of the employees of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company in different sectors, we proudly overcame the challenges of winter and were able to increase the amount of gas transmission by 2.8% last year,” the official said.
“The amount of gas injected into the country's gas distribution network from storage tanks in the winter was approximately equal to the preceding year at 2.5 billion cubic meters, but due to the special conditions of the northeastern network, the amount of gas withdrawn from the Shourijeh reservoir was 154 million cubic meters more. This issue and the Turkmen gas swap to Azerbaijan were among influential factors in the management of the northeastern network in winter.”
