Tehran Stocks Near Flatline

After rising more than 1% at the opening of trade, Tehran stocks closed Tuesday’s session near a flatline as sell-off pressure mounted in the final hours of the session.

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost 794.43 points, or 0.07%, for the day to end trading session at 1,118,118.06. 

Sell-off hit mainly large-cap stocks as the equal weighted index finished at positive territory at 0.68%. Unlike the market cap-weighted TEDPIX, the equal weighted index gives the same weight to all stocks irrespective of their market cap.   

About 9.68 billion shares valued at 106.8 trillion rials ($628.25 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Electric Khodro Shargh Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 33.7% to 28,043 rials per share.

Esfahan Sugar Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.85% to 172,111 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, Telecommunication Company of Iran and Mellat Bank.

National Iranian Copper Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Omid Investment Management Group Company, Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company and Mobarakeh Steel Company.

The Price Index lost 210.81 points, or 0.07% to close at 296,711.31. The First Market Index increased by 2,065.13 points, or 0.25% to post 832,436.76.

The Second Market Index went down 12,595.46 points, or 0.57% to reach 2,201,017.62. The Industry Index was up 768.66 points or 0.08% to register 982,450.65. The Free Float Index was up 464.82 points to hit 1,495,047.3.

TSE 30 went up 177.21 points to settle at 51,246.76 and the TSE 50 ended 106.49 points lower to finish at 41,804.13.

 

IFX Down 0.16%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 19.9 points, or 0.16%, to close Tuesday trade at 12,565.14.

About 2.93 billion securities valued at 105.98 trillion rials ($623.41 million) were traded at the over-the-counter exchange for the day.

Esfahan Steel Company had the highest number of traded shares as 271.87 million of its shares worth 1.86 trillion rials ($10.98 million) were traded.

Saba Tamin Investment Company, Hormozgan Steel Company, Damavand Power Generation Company and Omid Taban Hour Energy Management Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Zagros Petrochemical Company, Tukarail Company and Day Bank.
