The official said the steam units’ capacity was 240 megawatts in 1970 when Siemens Energy, Germany's largest engineering company, built the facility, which declined by 50% over the last six decades.
Giving a breakdown on the overhaul operation, he noted that close to 50 kilometers of pipeline in boilers were replaced.
Due to a lack of water in Yazd Province and the declining level of groundwater resources, the depth of water wells has surpassed 120 meters, a parliamentarian of Yazd said.
“We see a 40-50 cm drop in water level in the province every year. Despite drilling many wells across the central province, we cannot supply the water needed for the drinking sector in Yazd,” Mohammad Saleh Jokar was also quoted as saying by ILNA.
Tehran Municipality should build 110 small filling stations by the end of the current Iranian year, based on a resolution approved by Tehran City Council, said the chairman of the council’s Transportation Commission.
