Brazil’s unemployment rate fell more than expected in the second quarter, government data showed on Friday, but the surprising improvement was mainly due to a spike in off-the-books jobs as companies struggle to recover from a deep recession, Reuters reported. Brazil’s jobless rate fell to 13% in the three months through June, statistics agency IBGE said, down from a record high of 13.7% in the first quarter and below market expectations for a figure of 13.3%. The number of unemployed workers in Brazil fell to 13.5 million from 14.2 million in the first quarter.
