Indonesia Shows Trade Surplus

Bank Indonesia said the trade surplus of $1.24 billion in April 2017 shored up the country current account balance, Antara News reported. “Bank Indonesia sees that the positive performance of the country’s international trade in April 2017 contributed to the position of the country’s current account balance,” executive director of the communication department of the Central Bank, Tirta Segara, said. The surplus in April, however, was smaller than surplus of $1.4 billion recorded in March. Year-on-year, however, the surplus in April 2017 was much higher. In April, 2016, the trade surplus was only $0.88 billion.
