Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed its ‘A-’ rating on Malaysia’s long term foreign currency and local currency international default rating with a ‘stable’ outlook, citing the country’s promising economic environment and growth prospects, Malay News reported. In a sovereign overview report for the second half of 2017, the firm said that the ratings reflect Malaysia’s strong net external creditor position, real GDP growth that is faster than peers, and a current account which is still in surplus, albeit narrowing. Among the key developments since last August include external pressure triggered by portfolio outflows, it said.
