Hungary’s retail sales growth eased at a faster-than-expected rate in February after accelerating in the previous month, preliminary figures from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office showed Tuesday, RTT News reported. The volume of retail sales rose a calendar-adjusted 1.2% year-over-year in February, much slower than the 3.8% climb in January. Economists had expected the growth to moderate to 3.5%. Sales of non-food products grew 3.1% annually in February and those of food and tobacco products edged up by 0.2%. During the first two months of the year, total retail sales advanced 2.5% compared with the corresponding period last year.
