Polish airline Lot has launched new economy class fares including a hand baggage-only “saver” fare. The Star Alliance member is now offering three economy fares as part of its unbundling strategy: Saver, Standard and Flex, BBT reported on March 3. Lot said that the Saver fare would be up to 40% compared to the Standard ticket but passengers can only take cabin luggage and cannot get a refund or change their travel dates. Michal Fijol, chief commercial officer of LOT, said: “Our passengers are very conscious consumers who are well aware of what they are paying for, and - most importantly - are not willing to pay for services they don’t need. “We strive to meet their expectations by offering three pricing variants, with each of them tailored to suit different needs.” The Standard fare allows a single cabin bag of up to 23 kilograms although tickets are not refundable and travel dates can only be modified for a fee. While the Flex option offers the most flexible options.
