Turkey Current A/C Deficit  at $33b

Turkey’s yearend overall current account deficit is forecast at $33.1 billion, a group of economists said. A panel of 15 experts questioned by Anadolu Agency predicted an average $4.3 billion current account deficit for December 2016. Turkey’s Central Bank is expected to reveal the current account deficit on February 14. The current account deficit of the country stood at $32.2 billion in 2015. Meanwhile, Turkey’s treasury is set to pave the way for foreign investors to issue foreign exchange-based securities as part of the Istanbul Finance Center project, in a move to attract more foreign investors into the capital markets.
