Portugal’s rate of unemployment totaled 10.5% in November, according to a provisional estimate from the country’s National Statistics Institute (INE), which also lowered the figure for October to 10.6%, compared to an initial estimate of 10.8%. In November 2015 the unemployment rate was 12.3%. The provisional estimate for the unemployed population in November was 535,300 people and the employed population totaled 1.574 million, the Portugal News quotes INE. The definitive unemployment rate in October, according to INE, was 10.6%, falling 0.3 percentage point against the previous month and the same amount against the previous three months.  According to INE, the unemployment rate was higher among women (10.5%) than men (10.4%) compared to October, with the number of unemployed women falling by 0.1 percentage points and the number of unemployed men by 0.3 percentage points.  Unemployment among young people was 28.4%, 0.6 percentage points higher than in the previous month, while among adults it was 9.1%, or 0.2 percentage points lower.
