Big Debt Collectors to Merge

Intrum Justitia AB is merging with Lindorff in a Nordic deal that will add scale to Europe’s biggest debt collector, Bloomberg reported. “The combined entity is, through its scale and diversification, ideally positioned to capture the strong market growth” in credit management services, the companies said in a statement on Monday. The companies said the deal is expected to “create significant shareholder value” through annual cost synergies of 800 million kronor ($88 million), as well as “significant further revenue synergies”. The deal means Intrum Justitia will acquire all the outstanding shares in Lindorff, in exchange for newly issued shares in Intrum Justitia.
