The dollar gained sharply on the euro as ECB President Mario Draghi told the European parliament that the central bank is ready to step up its asset purchases to counter ultra low inflation that could erode already fragile growth. The dollar gained sharply on the euro at $1.2448 (US$1.2523 on Friday). The dollar also rose against the yen at 116.63 (116.26 on Friday).
