The number of people in work in Britain rose modestly in March but the unemployment rate held steady, further signs the labor market is cooling off after a long stretch of job gains, MarketWatch reported. The number of people in work rose by 44,000 to 31.6 million in the three months to March compared with the previous three months, with increases in both full - and part-time work and the number of self-employed. Unemployment fell by 2,000, to 1.7 million, the Office for National Statistics said, with the unemployment rate holding steady at 5.1%. The jobless rate was last lower in 2005.
