Dubai Denies Rumors

Dubai Department of Economic Development on Sunday denied rumors that people and businesses are being fined for negative comments on the economy, Arabian Business reported. In a statement titled “No truth in rumors on penalizing individuals and companies for commenting on economic situation”, the DED said: “…no government entity is empowered to act against expressing such opinions nor any violation involved in such comments.” It called upon the public to ensure that any information concerning national economy and overall commercial activity “came from the authorities concerned, and not to pay attention to unconfirmed reports and hearsay.”
