Foreign direct investment worth $2.8 billion was registered for new and existing projects in Vietnam in the first two months, up 135% compared to the same period last year, according to new statistics, Thanh Nien News reported. A report from the general statistics office said 291 new projects had been licensed in Vietnam as of February 20 with pledged investment capital totaling $1.9 billion. Another $900 million was added to existing projects, it said. Most of the investment was for the manufacturing and processing sectors.
