Companies from Taiwan invested $1.39 billion in Vietnam last year, making Taiwan the fourth largest source of foreign investment in the country, according to statistics released by Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, CNA reported.

Investment from Taiwan last year trailed only investment from South Korea ($6.72 billion), Malaysia ($2.47 billion) and Japan ($1.84 billion).

The statistics also showed that foreign direct investment in Vietnam was around $22.76 billion last year, up 12.5% from the previous year.

Vietnam’s processing and manufacturing sectors attracted $15.23 billion in total foreign investment last year, or 66.9% of the country’s total.
