A new report released by Accenture showed that nearly $3.5 billion worth of investments in financial technology were made in Asia Pacific in the first nine months of the year, AsiaFirst reported. In all of 2014, investments in financial technology in the region reached just $880m, with 177 deals. According to the Accenture report, a total of 122 deals had been registered as of October 1, with the value substantially higher than the whole of 2014 due to larger investments in and from China. Payments accounted for 40% of fintech investment deals in Asia Pacific this year while lending took up 25%.
