Uganda’s Bureau of Statistics has announced that the headline inflation for the year ending October 2015 has increased to 8.8% compared to 7.2% recorded in September 2015, AllAfrica reported. “The 1.6% increase in October was driven by the rise in annual food crop inflation which increased to 20.2% compared to 10.2% recorded in the year ending September 2015 and by annual energy, fuel and utilities inflation which increased to 11.9% compared to 3.8% recorded in the year ending September 2015. The sharp increase in EFU inflation was boosted by the recent increase in power tariffs.” Dr. Chris Mukiza, Director Macroeconomics Statistics, told a news conference last week.
