Dubai police have launched an investigation into the death of a prominent Indian businessman who was attacked by an Arab national at a luxury Dubai hotel on Sunday night.
Sources have told Arabian Business that Mahendran Yadav, managing director of Emirates Homes Real Estate Brokers for the last 13 years, was chatting with a group of friends in the shisha lounge of the One&Only Royal Mirage on Sunday shortly before the alleged attack.
It is claimed that just before midnight, Yadav became embroiled in a dispute with an Arab national over mobile phone photographs the group were taking, after which the alleged attack took place. An ambulance was called and Yadav was rushed to Rashid Hospital, where sources say he was placed on life support on Sunday night.
Yadav’s wife and family arrived in Dubai on Monday, shortly before he died at around 7:30pm Monday night. A large group of people are believed to have gathered outside the hospital when news spread of the incident.
Yadav, who earned a business degree from India’s Maduri Kamarj University, arrived in Dubai and was employed as a driver before we worked his way up the ladder and made his fortune as a real estate broker, heading up the Emirates Homes Real Estate Brokers firm since 2003.
