The unemployment rate in Malaysia has risen by 0.1% to 3.1% in May this year, compared to 3% in April, Bernama reported. According to the Principal Statistics of Labor Force, Malaysia for May this year, issued by the statistics department, the year to year unemployment rate recorded an increase of 0.2%. “The increase is following a reduction in the participating rate of the labor force by 0.1% out of 67.5%,” said the statement in Kuala Lumpur, Friday. The information was in accordance with the standard of the International Labor Organization encompassing urban and rural areas. Labor force referred to those aged 15 to 64 years.
