The latest Associated Press-GfK poll finds that Americans lack confidence in the government’s ability to protect their personal safety and economic security. More than half of those questioned say Washington can’t do much to minimize threats such as climate change, mass shootings, racial tensions, economic uncertainty on Wall Street and an unstable job market.
