Sri Lanka’s trade deficit widened 10.4 percent to $638.2 million in February from $578.1 million a year earlier, central bank data showed on Friday, Reuters reported. February exports rose 5.8 percent from a year earlier to $891.4 million, while imports gained 7.7 percent to $1.53 billion. In 2014, the trade deficit widened 9.1 percent to $8.3 billion, while the $76-billion economy recorded a balance-of-payment surplus of $1.38 billion last year, up from $985.4 million in 2013. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to expand the e-Service Online Tax Payment System.
