As it rises over the Jeddah skyline, the $1.2-billion Kingdom Tower, will make and break several records along its kilometer-high journey, a report says. The world’s tallest tower is now in the making, with the first 13 levels of the 170-storey skyscraper now clearly visible above the horizon in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, TradeArabia reported. The tower – which is expected to soar to a height of more than 1,000m – is currently at Level 13 in terms of the central core, with the wing walls now at level six, a spokesman for Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), was quoted as saying by (Persian) Gulf Construction. The SR4.6-billion ($1.22 billion) tower is being built over an area of 85,000 sq. m. The project is approximately six to seven percent through its progress schedule, which includes the installation of a total of 270 bored piles that sit under the raft foundation of the super skyscraper.
