The US dollar surged to a record high against the Russian ruble in trading on the Moscow Exchange on Monday. As of 11:30am Moscow time (07:30am GMT), the US dollar climbed by 32 kopecks against the ruble to a record high of 39.50 rubles to the dollar while the euro surged by 51 kopecks to 50.13 rubles to the euro, exceeding the psychologically important 50-ruble mark for the first time since September 16, Itar-Tass reported. The value of the dollar-euro currency basket (€0.45 and $0.55) grew by 40 kopecks against the ruble to 44.27 rubles.
