Belarus Exports to EU Quadruples

The exports of the Belarusian consumer cooperative society Belcoopsoyuz to the European Union went up 4 times in Q1 2015, BelTA learnt from head of the Belcoopsoyuz foreign economic activity department Tatyana Zubritskaya. Due to the fall in the exchange rate of the Russian ruble Belcoopsoyuz took measures to diversify its export supplies to the EU countries. In the first quarter of 2015 the Belarusian consumer cooperative society exported $7.6 million worth of products to the EU states, up 397.6% as against the same period last year. The Belcoopsoyuz board adopted the program on the development of the foreign economic activity for 2015. The program envisages a considerable increase in supplies to Belcoopsoyuz’s key markets of Finland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Lithuania as well as the markets of the Asian region: China, Vietnam and Turkmenistan. It also plans to increase the exports of fur, meat, rawhide, fresh and processed fruit and vegetables.
